Building a World Between Sea and Sky

The visual language of Whales in the Sky is designed to feel both ethereal and deeply immersive, reflecting the protagonist’s emotional journey. The film moves between two vast, contrasting realms: the deep ocean and the endless, dynamic sky. Both reflect her internal and external worlds as she navigates life with a late autism diagnosis. Each environment was carefully crafted to mirror the protagonist’s evolving relationship with herself, shifting from fear and isolation to self-acceptance and freedom.

Every frame of Whales in the Sky will feel like a painting; one that moves, breathes, and shifts in emotion. Through light, movement, and color, the visuals tell a story beyond words; one of descent, transformation, and finally, flight.
